How can I adapt my survey according to responses (show/hide questions)?

The display conditions allow you to adapt the content of your survey so that only the questions required by the respondent are displayed.

How do you do this?

To choose to show or hide a question depending on the answer to another question, go to the survey editor, then :

  1. select the question for which you wish to configure a display condition ;
  2. tick the ‘Show only if...’ option and :
    • select the page containing the condition question;
    • select the question ;
    • select the operator from ‘Is’ or ‘Is not’;
    • select the value from :
      • for a recommendation question (NPS): detractor, neutral or promoter ;
      • for a satisfaction question (CSAT): unsatisfied, neutral, satisfied;
      • for an effort question (CES): high effort, medium effort, low effort;
      • for a choice question: one of the choices in the question.

It is not possible to condition a question according to the answer to a question further down the survey.

Comments cannot be used as a condition.

💡 If you want to display question A only if a customer is ‘satisfied’ or ‘neutral’ (satisfaction question), you must apply the condition: display question A only if the answer to the satisfaction question is not ‘unsatisfied’.

Simulation

You can test your display conditions by switching to preview mode and browsing your survey.

Error handling

If a condition is incomplete, we display :

  • in the top right-hand corner of the question, the words ‘This question has an incomplete display condition’ ;
  • a ‘danger’ icon in the page thumbnail ;
  • the text ‘Display conditions incomplete’ in the survey header.

As long as there is at least one incomplete condition, the survey cannot be published.
